Here we publish a part of an e-mail forwarded to all the students, by the Prof.dr.ir. J.T. Fokkema, Rector Magnificus Delft University of Technology.
…as you may have heard in various news broadcasts, the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology was destroyed in a serious fire on Tuesday May 13. Although this is unfortunate, we are very glad that no personal injuries have occurred. This morning, just before half past nine, a fire was reported at the Faculty of Architecture. At the moment no conclusive statement can be given about the exact cause of the fire. Although there is enormous relief that there have been no casualties, there is also immense sadness about the probable loss of so much research and education work - as well a historic material and collections. No indication can yet be given of the extent of the damage.
Also the Executive Board is highly concerned about this loss for students and members of staff. It has been confirmed however that all computer files that were centrally stored have been saved.
At the moment TU Delft is surveying the options for continuing the last three weeks of the current academic year and the start of the new year in September. Help and support have already been offered by various education institutions in the vicinity. A solution will also have to be found for researchers and other members of staff.

Il govane studio svedese Kjellgren kaminsky architecture si riconferma nella forma, ma soprattutto nella tecnologia, e ci propone per la prima volta un edificio pubbilico passivo.

Zaha Hadid’s 26,000 square meter scheme for MAXXI was chosen through an international competition in 1998.
The program offers a flexible, interdisciplinary arena for the exhibition of contemporary art and architecture and for live events.

giorni di tregua o transizione anche per la triennale…
dopo l’euforia del salone, il chiasso e la ressa. ll tempio dell’architettura milanese si concede 1 vacanza!
Intanto in attesa del programma primaverile e delle innumerevoli mostre che dovrebbero inaugurare a maggio l’unica rimasta reduce dopo settimana del mobile è l’esposizione di Cassina che continua ad invadere 1000 mq di spazio presentando i pezzi della collezione dei grandi maestri, così come opere storche che hanno segnato il design italiano, ormai fuori collezione.
